Issue 7 · Weekly Intelligence Poll for Enterprise Leaders
The Governance Gap
Who Owns
Agentic AI Risk
in Your Org?
62% of enterprises have AI agents in production. Only 21% have mature governance. Something has to give. This week we ask the question every executive is avoiding.

This Week's Signal
Agentic AI is deployed. Governance is not.
Three signals this week converged on the same problem: enterprises are deploying AI agents faster than they can govern them. The EU AI Act's first enforcement date is 45 days away. Gartner warns 40% of current agentic projects will be cancelled. Anthropic just filed for IPO at $965 billion valuation. The race is on, and the governance question has never been more urgent for regulated sector leaders.

Your organization is deploying AI agents. But who actually OWNS governance over what they do?
Results feed into Friday's Reg-Ready Field Note: "The Governance Gap - Who Actually Owns Agentic AI Risk in Your Organization?" Post your vote and drop your sector in the comments. We will share real patterns from regulated industries in the follow-up.
45 days until the EU AI Act's first enforcement date.
62% of enterprises now have AI agents running in production.
Only 21% have mature governance over those agents.
Something does not add up.
Which means the most important AI question of 2026 is not "what can our agents do?" It is "who is accountable when they do something wrong?"
This week's Field Notes Live poll:
Your organization is deploying AI agents. But who actually OWNS governance over what they do?
- IT / Security team has a formal AI governance charter
- Legal / Risk / Compliance owns it (with limited technical depth)
- Business unit leaders govern their own agents (no central policy)
- Honestly? Nobody owns it yet
Drop your sector in the comments. Regulated industries (FinServ, Healthcare, Energy, Manufacturing) - I am especially curious about you.
Results and patterns from this week's field signals go out in Friday's Reg-Ready Field Note.

Why This Poll Matters This Week
Three converging signals you should know
Signal 1: Anthropic IPO at $965B
Anthropic filed its S-1 on June 1. Revenue grew 5x in 5 months ($9B to $47B ARR). Claude is already embedded in Snowflake (12,600 global customers) and Databricks. The question is no longer "will AI be in our data stack?" The question is "who governs it when it is?"
Signal 2: Gartner's 40% Warning
Gartner projects 40% of current agentic AI projects will be cancelled by 2027. The two main causes: unclear business value and inadequate risk controls. This is not a technology failure. It is a governance failure. Organizations without clear ownership structures are the most exposed.
Signal 3: EU AI Act - August 2, 2026
Article 50 transparency obligations go live in 45 days. This applies to any AI system generating content, including AI-generated customer communications, financial summaries, and clinical documentation. If your organization uses AI to generate text that reaches customers or regulators, you need to know this deadline.
What We Are Watching Friday
Tomorrow's Reg-Ready Field Note will map the governance ownership patterns by sector, drawing from this poll and this week's market signals. Regulated sector leaders in FinServ, Healthcare, Energy, and Manufacturing will get sector-specific governance entry points and a risk triage framework.
